In our conversations with brands that sell in Türkiye, we often hear the same assumption: “Almost all of our sales are in Türkiye, so a local platform is the natural choice.” The reasoning is understandable; local platforms offer local payment, shipping and e-invoicing connections out of the box. But choosing a platform depends not only on today's list of integrations but also on how the brand will grow over the coming years.

As an official Shopify Partner, Booster Wizard recommends Shopify even when most of our clients' sales are in Türkiye. In this article we explain the reasons behind that recommendation and how Türkiye-specific needs are met on Shopify.

The Short Answer

Shopify offers a strong foundation in speed, reliability, design freedom, its app ecosystem and scalability. Each Türkiye-specific need can be met either with a ready-made Shopify app or with an app we develop specifically for your brand. In other words, selling locally does not tie you to a local platform; you can run a single store that is strong in Türkiye and ready for other countries too.

Speed and Performance: The Infrastructure Comes from Shopify

An online store's speed depends largely on how the infrastructure delivers content to the visitor. According to Shopify's Help Center, every store is served through a global content delivery network (CDN) run by Cloudflare at no additional charge. All files are delivered over HTTP/2; CSS, JavaScript and pages are compressed, and cacheable files are kept in the browser for a long time so that pages open faster for returning visitors.

Images are handled through a separate image CDN as well: working together with the theme, Shopify resizes and compresses images and serves them in lighter formats such as WebP where possible. For fashion, cosmetics and home décor stores, where product photos dominate, this is a significant advantage gained without installing a separate optimisation tool.

Shopify's own documentation states that the factors with the greatest impact on performance are the theme, installed apps and third-party code added manually. That is why we avoid unnecessary code when building themes, measure the performance impact when choosing apps and track the results with the Core Web Vitals reports in the Shopify admin, which are based on real user data. Reliability on Campaign Days

During periods such as November sales, 11.11 or end-of-season campaigns, traffic can multiply within a few hours. On infrastructure with limited resources, that can mean a slower site or errors at the payment step. Shopify, by contrast, prepares for Black Friday and Cyber Monday (BFCM) months in advance. According to its engineering team, load scenarios that exceed the previous year's peak traffic are tested with simulations of real shopping flows and with cross-region failover exercises. You benefit from this worldwide preparation on your own campaign days in Türkiye.

The payment step is part of the same secure infrastructure. Shopify is certified PCI DSS Level 1 compliant, and according to Shopify this compliance extends by default to all Shopify stores. Hosting, SSL, security and platform updates are also managed by Shopify, so you never have to scale up servers or wait for security patches before a campaign.

Design Freedom

In Online Store 2.0 themes, pages are built from sections and blocks; your team can change campaign pages, the homepage layout and product page content in the theme editor without knowing any code. Metafields make it possible to add extra information to products, such as usage instructions, ingredient lists or size charts.

More importantly, the entire theme code is accessible. Shopify themes consist of Liquid, Shopify's templating language, along with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JSON files, and these files can be edited from the admin. This lets us design a fully bespoke store that reflects your brand identity exactly, without being held back by the limits of a ready-made template.

App Ecosystem and Continuous Innovation

The Shopify App Store has thousands of apps. For needs such as email and SMS marketing, loyalty programmes, subscriptions, product reviews, personalisation and reporting, there is usually more than one mature option. You do not have to wait for the platform's roadmap to try out a new marketing idea.

The platform itself keeps evolving too. Shopify introduces new features and developer tools together in its Editions announcements, published every six months. Because the infrastructure is updated by Shopify, you do not need to upgrade versions or maintain servers to benefit from these improvements.

Local Needs: Ready-Made Apps or Custom Development

The biggest concern for Türkiye-focused brands is whether the local connections they are used to will be available on Shopify. Our approach is simple: if a reliable ready-made Shopify app exists, we use it; if not, we develop the custom app that meets the need. These are the topics we deal with most often in our projects:

  • Payments: Shopify Payments is not available to Türkiye-based stores; local payment providers such as iyzico and PayTR are connected through apps or custom integrations, and the instalment and 3D Secure flow is planned from the start.
  • Shipping: apps or custom connections are set up for carriers such as Yurtiçi Kargo, Aras Kargo and MNG Kargo to create shipments and write the tracking number to the order.
  • E-invoices and e-archive invoices: orders are turned into invoices through an app that works with your e-invoice provider or through a custom integration.
  • Marketplaces: product, stock and order synchronisation with Trendyol, Hepsiburada and n11 is designed so that stock is managed from a single source.
  • ERP and accounting: product, stock, price and order transfers are set up with systems such as Logo, Mikro and Nebim; where no ready-made connection exists, one is built specifically for the brand.
  • B2B: rules such as dealer-specific price lists, minimum order quantities, account balances and approval-based orders are put in place with apps or custom development.

In Shopify's definition, a custom app is an app built exclusively for your store. It accesses store data through Shopify's APIs, and thanks to webhooks it learns about events such as a new order in near real time and passes the relevant information to your ERP, your carrier or your e-invoice provider. Scaling and Readiness for Going Abroad

You may be working with a few hundred products today; when your catalogue, traffic and team grow over the next few years, your infrastructure needs to grow at the same pace. Because Shopify's plans range from Basic to Plus, you can upgrade your plan as you grow instead of changing platforms. Plan features and prices change over time, so we recommend checking the latest details on shopify.com.

Going abroad is also a “one day” plan for most brands, and when that day comes you do not want to start a second migration project. With Shopify Markets you can sell to different countries from the same store, in local languages and with market-specific prices, and set up a separate domain or subfolder for each market. To be clear about currency: because Shopify Payments is not available, orders in Türkiye-based stores are processed in the store's default currency, which is Turkish lira. Market-specific price adjustments, however, still work.

What About What Local Platforms Offer Out of the Box?

Local e-commerce platforms are good products; offering local payment, shipping, e-invoicing and marketplace connections out of the box and providing Turkish-language support are real advantages. On Shopify, we cover the same areas through apps and custom development, and Turkish support comes from our team. On top of that, this local layer sits on infrastructure that runs at global scale, a broad ecosystem and a fully customisable store.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Shopify admin be used in Turkish?

Yes. The Shopify admin can be used in Turkish, and you can publish your store in Turkish.

Can I sell in instalments without Shopify Payments?

Yes. Instalment options are offered through local payment providers such as iyzico or PayTR. Since how many instalments are offered on which cards and who covers the instalment charge depend on the provider and your contract, we clarify these details before setup.

What if there is no ready-made Shopify app for my ERP?

In that case, we develop a custom app that connects to Shopify through the API or web service your ERP provides. We decide together with you during the analysis phase which data moves in which direction and how often.

Will I lose data or SEO when moving from my current platform?

Not when it is planned properly. We read products, customers and past orders from the source platform's API and write them to the new store with the Shopify Admin API; we also connect the old URLs to their new equivalents with 301 redirects. Since customer passwords cannot be migrated from any platform, we send customers account activation invites after launch.

Conclusion

Having your sales in Türkiye does not mean you have to stay on a local platform. Shopify provides a strong foundation for speed, reliability, design and growth, while we cover local payment, shipping, e-invoicing, marketplace and ERP needs with ready-made apps and custom development. The result is a single store that sells strongly in Türkiye today and is ready to go abroad tomorrow.
