CASE STUDY

The starting point

Nut Ordinary is a brand that makes vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free protein powder blends from pea and rice protein in six flavours; its store previously ran on WooCommerce. Single products, Duo Sets and page content had to be moved to Shopify. The goal was a custom Shopify store that makes the differences between flavours easy to understand, presents ingredients and nutritional values transparently and shows how plant protein can be used in everyday recipes.

What we did

Products and content were moved from WooCommerce to Shopify; single products and Duo Sets were organised under the Plant Proteins, Single Products and Duo Sets collections.
A custom Shopify theme was designed and developed for the brand, carrying Nut Ordinary's red, cream and yellow tones, monospace typography and its "a plant-based objection to the ordinary" attitude across every page.
The home page was built around a four-slide hero, an information bar highlighting vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free options, a brand philosophy section and a Duo Set showcase.
A four-question Flavour Finder was added, along with a flavour comparison table that sets protein, calories, sweeteners, taste notes and serving suggestions side by side.
Product pages gained a flavour switcher for moving between flavours, expandable sections for ingredients, nutritional values, serving suggestions and storage, a section showing the product label exactly as printed, and Duo Set recommendations.
The recipes section was built with breakfast, drinks, desserts & snacks and main meal filters; recipe cards show preparation time, protein and servings, each recipe links to the product it uses, and product pages link back to the related recipes.
A "What Is Pea Protein?" guide page and an FAQ answer common questions about pea protein within the store.

Nut Ordinary is a protein brand built on the idea of offering a plant-based alternative to familiar dairy products. Its vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free powder blends, made from pea and rice protein, come in six flavours, including sugar-free options. At Booster Wizard, we moved Nut Ordinary from WooCommerce to Shopify and redesigned the store with a theme developed specifically for the brand.

A Flavour Catalogue Moved from WooCommerce to Shopify

During the migration we moved the products and content from WooCommerce to Shopify. We organised the single products and the Duo Sets, which pair two flavours at a set price, into separate collections. On product pages, ingredients, nutritional values and serving suggestions sit under expandable headings, while the “What's on the label is what's here” section shows the product label exactly as printed.

An Experience from Choosing a Flavour to the Kitchen

We carried the brand's red, cream and yellow tones and its monospace typography onto every page of the theme. The four-question Flavour Finder and a comparison table that sets protein, calories and sweeteners side by side guide visitors to the flavour that suits them, and the flavour switcher on product pages moves between flavours in a single click. The recipes section lists protein recipes from breakfast to main meals with preparation time and protein content, and each recipe links to the product it uses.

As a result, Nut Ordinary's plant-based protein blends are sold in a Shopify store that makes choosing a flavour easy, brings the products into everyday cooking through recipes and reflects the brand's unconventional stance.
