Ticimax and Shopify are the two options Turkish brands compare most often when choosing an e-commerce platform. One is a local platform shaped around the needs of the Turkish market; the other is a global platform used by brands in many countries. Both are cloud-based solutions that manage hosting, security and updates for you, so the real differences lie in the details and in the direction your brand wants to grow.

As an official Shopify Partner, we at Booster Wizard moved Aceso from Ticimax to Shopify and rebuilt it with a new design. In this article we compare the two platforms criterion by criterion, drawing on that experience and on each platform's official sources. We are open about Ticimax's strengths, and we set out our reasons for recommending Shopify to Türkiye-focused brands too.

The Short Answer

Even if most, or all, of your sales are in Türkiye, our recommendation is Shopify. It is true that Ticimax offers payment, shipping, e-invoicing and marketplace integrations out of the box; on Shopify, we at Booster Wizard cover these needs with ready-made apps and, where no ready-made app exists, with custom apps we develop for you. On top of that, Shopify offers speed and performance infrastructure, reliability on campaign days, full design freedom and a broad app ecosystem. And the day you go abroad, no second migration is needed.

Türkiye-Specific Infrastructure: Payments, Shipping and E-Invoicing

This is where Ticimax is strongest. Its packages include virtual POS that works with all banks, bank transfer and cash on delivery; shipping integrations with automatic barcode generation and shipment tracking; and e-invoice and e-archive support. There are also separate integration options for accounting and ERP systems. A brand selling in Türkiye can cover these core needs without any extra development.

The picture is different on Shopify. Shopify's own payment solution, Shopify Payments, is not available to stores based in Türkiye. Local payment providers such as iyzico and PayTR are therefore connected through apps or custom integrations, and topics such as instalments and 3D Secure need to be planned from the start. Shipping and e-invoicing likewise rely on ready-made apps or custom integrations. We take on this planning and set-up: we choose and configure the right app, and where there is no ready-made app, we develop a custom app for your brand with the Shopify Admin API and webhooks.

Marketplace Integrations

For brands active on marketplaces such as Trendyol, Hepsiburada and n11, Ticimax offers a clear advantage. Its higher packages include integrations with these marketplaces as well as Amazon, and the most comprehensive packages add overseas marketplace integrations. Managing products, stock and orders from a single panel saves a great deal of time in multichannel selling.

On Shopify, marketplace connections are not built in; they are set up with apps, third-party integration software or custom development. We settle at the start of the project which method will connect you to which marketplace and how stock synchronisation will work: if a suitable app exists, we install it; if not, we develop a custom integration that keeps products, stock and orders in sync with Shopify.

Selling Abroad

Ticimax offers dedicated E-export packages for selling abroad. Multilingual sites managed from one panel, country-based pricing, collecting payments in each country's currency (depending on what your payment system supports), payment methods shown per country, international shipping integrations and country-specific home pages are all part of these packages.

Shopify's difference is that it was designed with global selling in mind from the outset. With Shopify Markets you can sell to different countries from a single store, in each country's language and with market-specific price adjustments, using a separate domain or subfolder for each market. Many international marketing, shipping and customer service tools are also offered with Shopify integrations.

An important note: on Shopify, showing prices and taking payment in local currencies requires Shopify Payments or Adyen. Because Shopify Payments is not available to Türkiye-based stores, their orders are processed in the default currency, which is TL, although market-specific price adjustments still work. Design and Theme Flexibility

Ticimax offers a large number of mobile-friendly themes that can be filtered by sector, along with a page design wizard that simplifies layout work. For brands that want a more distinctive look, there is brand-specific design through its Custom-Made service, and its premium packages include options such as CSS and script access.

On Shopify, Online Store 2.0 themes let you manage sections and blocks in the theme editor and add extra product information with metafields. The real difference is that the theme code is entirely in the brand's hands: a custom theme can be built from scratch, and you can work with any agency or developer you choose. With Aceso, too, we combined the migration with a new design that revisited the brand's identity: Explore the Aceso project

App Ecosystem and Customisation

The Shopify App Store has thousands of apps for areas such as marketing, loyalty, subscriptions, product personalisation and reporting. For needs without a ready-made solution, brand-specific apps can be built on the Shopify Admin API; in our projects we use this route for local payment, shipping and ERP connections.

Ticimax, by contrast, delivers most features within the platform according to package level: modules such as campaign templates, bulk email and SMS, abandoned cart tracking and B2B selling are included in the packages. Web services are available for connecting external systems, and higher packages add detailed web service usage and webhook management. In short, most features come ready-made on Ticimax, while on Shopify they are chosen and added as needed, which means both flexibility and an app list that has to be managed.

Where customisation runs matters too. On Ticimax the infrastructure is managed entirely by the platform, and the customisation route its packages highlight is CSS and script access. This means additions beyond what the platform offers are usually made with code added to the page that runs in the shopper's browser, and every script added makes the page heavier.

On Shopify, custom logic can run server-side: Liquid themes are rendered on Shopify's servers, Shopify Functions run discount, delivery, payment method and cart validation rules on infrastructure hosted by Shopify, and custom apps run on their own servers and connect to the store through the Admin API and webhooks. As a result, integrations do not need to load extra scripts in the shopper's browser.

Technical Infrastructure and Scaling

Both platforms work on a SaaS model, with servers, SSL and updates managed by the platform. Hosting and SSL are included in Ticimax packages, and its premium packages are positioned for large businesses with higher capacity. On Shopify, the sitemap and robots.txt are generated automatically alongside hosting and security, and the plan structure from Basic to Plus lets a store move up a plan as it grows without changing platform.

There are two technical details to know on the Shopify side. The URL structure is fixed: products live under /products/ and collections under /collections/. The limit of three options and 2,048 variants per product also shapes how the catalogue is structured. These are not obstacles, but they need to be planned before a migration.

Support and Language

Ticimax offers 24/7 live support by phone and support ticket in all packages, and Custom-Made clients also have a dedicated support representative. Turkish-language support is a big convenience, especially for brands without a technical team.

Shopify's own support team can be reached through online channels. For Türkiye-specific topics such as setting up local payments, shipping and e-invoicing, however, most brands prefer to work with a Shopify Partner agency. In our projects we provide support in Turkish from set-up through to after launch.

Cost Structure

On Ticimax, cost is largely determined by the package you choose; marketplace integrations, e-export features and some modules are offered in higher packages or as add-on services. On Shopify, paid apps, the theme, payment provider commissions and possible transaction fees depending on your plan are added to the plan fee. Prices change over time on both platforms, so check current information on their official websites and compare not just the subscription fee but the total cost of every feature you need.

Why Shopify for Türkiye-Focused Brands Too?

Even if all of your sales are in Türkiye, these are the main reasons we recommend Shopify:

  • Speed and performance: Shopify serves stores through a global content delivery network (CDN) backed by Cloudflare and renders storefront pages server-side.
  • Reliability on campaign days: there is no need to plan servers separately for busy sale periods; Shopify handles global peaks such as Black Friday on the same infrastructure.
  • Design freedom: the theme code is entirely in the brand's hands, so you can build the design you want.
  • A broad app ecosystem: there are thousands of ready-made apps for marketing, loyalty, subscriptions and personalisation.
  • Integration with any set-up: we connect local payments, shipping, e-invoicing, marketplaces and ERP systems such as Logo, Mikro and Nebim using ready-made apps or custom apps we develop.
  • No second migration: when you go abroad, Shopify Markets is ready in the same store.

Moving from Ticimax to Shopify

If you decide to move to Shopify, you do not need to export your data from the panel. We read products, categories, customers and past orders through Ticimax's web services, using a web service authorisation code created in the Ticimax admin, and write them to the new store with the Shopify Admin API. 301 redirects from old URLs to new ones are created via the API in the same way.

Because customer passwords cannot be migrated from any platform, accounts start as inactive on Shopify and activation invites are sent after launch. How long the move takes depends on the number of products, the scope of the design and the number of integrations. Conclusion

Ticimax is a strong platform with ready-made local integrations and Turkish-language support. Even so, when we weigh current needs and future goals together, our recommendation is Shopify: fast and scalable infrastructure, design freedom, a flexible ecosystem and a set-up that is ready for selling abroad. We set up the Türkiye-specific connections with ready-made apps or apps we develop specifically for you, making your Shopify store complete for your customers in Türkiye.
